Musical Monday #232

Advent is over, and I hear there was some kind of holiday following it but I work in retail so I haven't noticed it yet. But we are currently somewhere inside the 12 days of Xmas, so here is another festive Musical Monday!

One More Sleep ‘Til Christmas from The Muppet Christmas Carol
Performed by Steve Whitmire
Written by Paul Williams

Ah, wasn't that heartwarming?

Although I don't think Kermit is very good casting for Bob Cratchit - Kermit is usually acerbic, intelligent and put upon, exasperated by the antics of those around him, but here he just has to play 'super nice guy'.  I mean, Kermit is nice too, but he's not normally so dull.

Musical Monday #231

Ah, here we are on the last Monday of this Advent season, so to round things off, here is a song from that Xmas classic....

Musical Monday #230

Welcome to the third Monday of Advent and here to explain what Xmas is all about is a soon-to-be-glee-brain-washed Shirley:

Happy Birthday Jesus! from Community, episode 'Regional Holiday Music'
Performed by Yvette Nicole Brown and a choir of children
Written by Ludwig Göransson

Musical Monday #229

Today's Advent Musical Monday actually made me a little bit sad a) remembering that I used to like Crazy Ex Girlfriend a lot more at the start than I did by the end (Greg!) but then b) feeling a bit weird about that, because it's like wanting a person to stay mentally ill.

But.... anyway....

California Christmastime from Crazy Ex Girlfriend episode 'My Mom, Greg's Mom and Josh's Sweet Dance Moves!'
Performed by Rachel Bloom, Vincent Rodriguez III, Santino Fontana, Donna Lynne Champlin, Pete Gardner and Vella Lovell
Written by Rachel Bloom, Aline Brosh McKenna, Adam Schlesinger, Jack Dolgen, Dan Gregor and Steven M. Gold

Musical Monday #228

Well, it's December so that means that Musical Monday is going seasonal for advent.

First up is from the musical episode of Community, in which the characters are each taken over by Glee Club a la The Body Snatchers (in order to do an Xmas pageant).  In this scene, Abed and Troy seduce Pierce by playing to his ego.
Baby Boomer Santa from Community, episode 'Regional Holiday Music'
Performed by Donald Glover, Danny Pudi and Chevy Chase
Written by Ludwig Göransson (and possibly Steve Basilone and Annie Mebane)

How I Know My Friends

As part of another post I am working on, I was having a look at the diversity represented by my facebook friends list and I realised that the vast majority of people I know are through work.

Frankly, that's kind of depressing.

Here's the breakdown of how I know my friends:

Is this normal? How did I fall out of touch with so many people from university?

I guess work is something that pretty much continues forever, so you keep meeting new people, whereas things like education are a finite thing in the past so once you've met those people, you don't meet more. Clearly I need more hobbies though.

Of course, if I look at the people I spend the most time with (socially), then it is one from university, one from senior school, one friend of friend and one family.

But that just highlights how I do not see enough of my friends on a regular basis!

This definitely makes me want to reach out and celebrate my friendships more.
