Musical Monday #58

Well, Rev. is over.

Series 3, like series 1, ends on a bit of a downer, or at least a downer with a spark of hope, but I like my finales to be a bit more upbeat so my critique is:

series 2 is the best series.

And since I am still contemplating the show – it being something of a slow burner (is that a phrase? Does it mean what I think it means?) – I am not sure I want to be distracted, so today’s musical interlude is, er, the theme tune to Rev.

Why I Never Became An Actor #5

Reason Number 5: Completely forgettable.

For The Final School Production (that I was in – it’s not like the school exploded after this), a teacher/teaching assistant (I can’t remember – I only ever had one previous interaction with her:

was head of make-up. 

It was half an hour to curtain up.  I went over.

She stared at me. 

She pointed to the dancers.

That’s right.  I hadn’t been recognised by The Dance Teachers.  Despite being The Head Cheerleader, I hadn’t been included in any of The Cheerleading Routines.  I hadn’t been recognised by The Music Teachers.  I hadn’t had one rehearsal for The One Song.  And now I wasn’t even recognised for The Acting.

There’s nothing like getting to opening night and not even being recognised by the crew.

I haven’t time to craft a proper post today because instead of just watching Rev., illustrating a post and then having an early night, I am watching a lame quiz on 50 years of BBC

And bemoaning the lack of Red Dwarf clips involved.

I am finally nearly better from The Cold, apart from some gross stuff going on in the back of The Throat and The Nose.  But I don’t FEEL crappy any more.  So while I work on their eviction notice, here are some other activities that The Gremlins have been enjoying this past fortnight while in The Head:

It seems that this week The Head has been invaded by a group of tiny gremlins.  They moved in on Wednesday evening and are showing no signs of leaving, although they do like to randomly change their activities throughout the day.

I think I might hate them.

Musical Monday #55

So yesterday I went to see Muppets Most Wanted (confusingly not called Muppets Again, despite what the opening and closing musical numbers seem to think).  Following the Muppet tradition, it has a whole bunch of celebrity cameos.  And much like watching 70s Muppets, I was completely baffled as to who some of the celebrities were.  Apparently I will never be in touch with popular culture.

The Cameos I Knew Who They Were When They Turned Up:

• Hugh Bonneville and Tom Hollander (ding ding ding ding!)
• Mackenzie Crook and Toby Jones (although the latter is for some reason not listed on the Wikipedia list of cameos in this film, but I definitely saw him, standing right next to Mackenzie Crook)
• Celine Dion (although only because of the context of Miss Piggy is obsessed with her so I presumed the woman in the song must be her)
• Salma Hayek
• Tom Hiddleston
• Ray Liotta and Danny Trejo (although I didn’t know the latter’s name, so didn’t get the joke about his name)
• Usher Raymond (ONLY because they said ‘usher’ like three times during this bit and I am vaguely aware there is a singer called Usher)
• Russell Tovey
