The romance might seem a bit bare bones and even creepy by modern standards (although it is a lot more meaty than the romances in either of the previous Disney fairy tale movies) and while Briar Rose might have never met a man before so maybe she is letting her excitement run away with her, Prince Philip decides that he loves this peasant girl and is going to give up an entire kingdom for her (a reverse-Aladdin), an idea the film doesn't really focus on because the audience knows she isn't really a peasant girl, but that's actually really sweet and romantic of old Phil.
